Since Typhoon Haiyan (known regionally as Yolanda) hit the Philippines Nov. 8, 2013, United Methodist Communications and its partners have been working to help restore communications in the disaster area.
Detroit’s Renaissance District hosted a city-wide event to address the rising food insecurities. 38% of all households with children suffer food insecurities. Over 1,000 volunteers joined hands to collect and distribute over 17,000 meals.
Magic City Miracle Where: Birmingham, AL When: September 29, 2013 Thank you to all of our volunteers and sponsors for making the Magic Happen in Birmingham. More than 2,000 volunteers worked on a variety of projects in 85 different locations. Thousands of people went throughout Birmingham to spread kindness and good deeds that was a benefit to the homeless, school children the elderly, and many others. Magic City Miracle has become one of the largest days of service in Birmingham.
Serve 2013 Where: Missouri When: September 7-8, 2013 Our 3rd annual state-wide service event was a great success. Thank you all for helping to impact our communities!
Impact Kentucky 2013 Where: Various Locations, KY When: August 24 2013 THANK YOU volunteers and sponsors for making Impact Kentucky 2013 such a great success! There were 90 projects in over 22 counties. So whether it was cleaning city parks or feeding the hungry, providing home repairs or visiting nursing homes, each community felt the IMPACT of all that was accomplished.
Hope Epidemic 2013 Where: Sikeston, MO When: May 18, 2013 THANK YOU VOLUNTEERS AND SPONSORS! This year was by far the biggest and best event we've had to date! Early counts show that we have been between 1200-1300 volunteers with over 2500 at the Celebration in Lincoln Park. WOW! Thank you to everyone who brought HOPE to our communities!
Impact Taylor County 2013 Where: Campbellsville, Kentucky When: April 27, 2013 THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to all of our Volunteers and Sponsors! We had about 285 volunteers come out last Saturday to Impact Taylor County! In spite of the rain, we were able to gather 55 units of donated blood and gave away food and clothing to 700 people! We definitely had a GREAT DAY OF SERVICE!

Celebrate Segundo Barrio 2011 Where: El Paso, TX When: March 12, 2011 The Lydia Patterson Institute, in partnership with 6 local UM Churches, several Campus Ministries and the State of Texas, held a day of cultural celebration and service in what is known as the poorest urban zip code in America. Historical tours, food box distributions and a free health fair, along with a 5K Walk/Run, served over 2000 people in the community.

The fifteen districts of the Western North Carolina Annual Conference in partnership with the WNC annual conference and United Methodist Communications, held individual events in their communities on June 15 over 320 projects/opportunities were sponsored, 14,600 volunteers serving 620,000 people.

In its 2nd year, Western North Carolina was able to make an impact on their communities once again with multiple projects across the conference. From food drives, to community fairs, to delivering wood to needy families and more, the Western North Carolina conference impacted thousands.
Impact JC 2010

Even in the pouring rain, over 250 church and community members came together to fix up the community and to honor all those who died nine years ago during the September 11th attacks. Through home repairs, park beautification, a blood drive and food boxes, Impact JC was able to honor local military service members and their families.

A variety of projects brought out over 300 volunteers for the 2nd annual Impact JC day in Johnson City, TN. With 19 different locations throughout Johnson City, the teams of volunteers were able to impact a large population of the city in many different ways. They are already looking ahead to an event in 2012!
