Does that sound like you? This course is appropriate for anyone wanting to develop a web presence to support the ministry of a church, district, conference, or other organization. Web Ministry 100 or equivalent knowledge and skills are prerequisites for this course. Click here to see if you’re ready. What will I learn?
At the end of this online course, you will be able to:
- Explore church, non-profit and secular websites to determine the design, features and functions that can create a dynamic, interactive web experience.
- Update your church’s Find-A-Church profile and include as much relevant information as possible to make this a destination for visitors and seekers.
- Acquire basic computer hardware, software and other technology tools for your church to develop and maintain a website.
- Select and register a domain name for your website.
- Investigate various website design and hosting services and select the option that is right for your church’s financial and human resources as well as purpose and goals.
You will also be ready to:
- Identify and meet with your web ministry team
- Secure buy-in from key people and groups in your church who will help to make your website and web ministry a success.
- Develop a web ministry plan that includes a purpose and goals as well as the details of your website development process, preliminary budget and timeline.
- Identify your target audience groups and their needs from a website and web ministry.
- Take the next steps toward designing, building and launching your website in part two (WM102: Design, Build and Launch).

Facilitators
Bill Lawson UMCom National Trainer (CMT-3) and consultant for the Communications Ministry Training Program, Web Servant of Memphis Conference UMC, Pastor of Briensburg & Mt. Carmel UM Parish. Lawson has a background in educational and business data and technology services. His interests include music, boating, travel. Erin Barham served as the Graphics and Web Services Administrator for the Missouri Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church for 5 years. She was in charge of updates, maintenance, editing, and correspondence for the affiliated web sites, as well as all audio and video projects. Her work on the communications team helped congregations, churches, pastors, lay persons, and conference staff facilitate their ministries. She was also a resource for their web ministry and technology needs. Her experience ranges from graphic and web design to content management systems, html, xhtml, css, Audacity, Windows Media Encoder, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, Scribe Studio, and Dreamweaver.
How to Register
Pre-registration is required, and no participants will be admitted once the course begins.
