2011 Lenten Sermon / Study Series

Questioning takes courage. It’s the way that we learn and the way we grow. When we keep the questions coming, we keep the conversation going with God … and one another.

This Lent, Rethink Church invites you to experience one of life’s greatest mysteries – God’s radical breaking through with a Love that could not be destroyed. Rediscover your curiosity and meet God in the questions…not just the answers.

This lectionary-based study provides ideas for worship and for living the faith beyond the sanctuary walls. Sample questions are included for personal and congregational reflection, and for social media engagement. By creating an environment where questioning is acceptable, local churches can strengthen ties to those unfamiliar with spiritual disciplines, and deepen existing faith.

“Fearless” begins with Ash Wednesday and concludes with Palm/Passion Sunday. The church study series is free for download.

In addition, the companion multimedia series is available for $25 and includes:

Encounter Faith: Online Lenten Bible Study

The Fearless materials refer to an online study through FaithLink curriculum on www.rethinkchurch.org. This study will begin on March 14 (the first full week of Lent) and conclude the week of April 18.

Rev. Jacob Armstrong will facilitate the 6-week study, which will begin with the topic of spiritual disciplines. Recorded webinars and podcasts will be available for free download beginning March 14. Online interaction with these pieces will be ongoing through text conversations of those participating in the online portion of the study.

In the local church, consider downloading these resources as conversation starters to your own small group. Play them at the beginning of a study group, or pause and play throughout to engage local participants. While excerpts of FaithLink will be available online, consider purchasing the complete study at www.cokesbury.com/faithlink. FaithLink is a great way to engage adults of all ages and degrees of faith.
