How exciting that United Methodists have the opportunity to help raise funds for The Voice of Hope for the broadcasting year of 2010. The Voice of Hope is providing programming to Ivorians relevant to their needs. Education regarding malaria, agriculture, reconciliation programming and Bible study will transform lives in the country of Cote d’Ivoire.

The United Methodist Church in Cote d’Ivoire is already working on funding the radio station. Our hope is to raise $70,000 for The Voice of Hope so the director and staff can begin implementing their plan for sustainability for 2011. Organize your church, youth groups, choirs and Bible studies to give to The Voice of Hope. Give something up for 40 days and share the money with The Voice of Hope or organize a chocolate-themed fundraiser.

Our goal is $70,000. Together we can do it.

Please add the staff of The Voice of Hope to your prayers: Director Aqcuah and staff Pacome, Jean-Marc, Jean-Luc, Martin and Isaac.

Here’s a challenge—and an invitation. Commit to give up something for 40 days and share the money you would have spent to give new life to people in Cote d’Ivoire. Help us reach our goal of $70,000. Together, we can do it! Learn more

In the United States, instant messaging is a way of life. Within minutes of a 7.0 earthquake reducing Port-au-Prince, Haiti, to rubble, for example, we heard about it.

That’s not the case for the people of Cote d’Ivoire. In that west African country—where electricity and the Internet are unreliable, where many people cannot read or write, and where roads are often impassable—it may take weeks or even months for people to get the news. Because radio is the primary means of communication, United Methodists launched Radio Methos (101.6 FM) on Christmas Eve 2009.

But we need you and your congregation to keep The Voice of Hope on the air.  Learn how
