Board of Directors: The Rev. Cynthia Harvey

The Rev. Cynthia Harvey

Escondido, CA

Reverend Harvey is a member of the Texas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, having been ordained Elder in 2001. She currently serves as Director of the Center for Missional Excellence of the Texas Annual Conference, a position she has held since February 2008.

Reverend Harvey is a 1980 graduate of The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism; she earned her Masters of Divinity degree from Perkins School of Theology (SMU) in 1999.

From 1996 to January 2008, Cynthia served as associate minister of MDUMC, overseeing programs and communications: responsible for the day-to-day ministries of the almost 6900 member church on Houston’s west side, worked closely with the clergy and administrative staff providing leadership and guidance.

Prior to her appointment to MDUMC, Cynthia was associate minister at The Foundry United Methodist Church, Houston, from 1994-1996.

Recognized for her leadership and knowledge in the communications and marketing arena, Reverend Harvey is a member of the Executive Committee and serves as Chair of the Personnel Committee for the General Commission on Communications and is a Board member of the Foundation for United Methodist Communication.

Cynthia is married to Dean; they have a 17-year old daughter, Elizabeth Grace.
