OUTLOOK Installation Instructions:
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Before importing UMC2009, back up your calendar data.
- Open your Outlook application.
- Open the Calendar.
- Select Import and Export from the File menu.
- Select “Import iCalendar or vCalendar file” in the Import/Export Wizard window. Click Next.
- Browse to the downloaded UMC2009 file (in a folder or on your desktop).
- Click OK. The entries will be imported into your calendar.
To find the data on your calendar, display a portion of the year that corresponds to the data you have loaded.
If your UMC2009 file doesn’t import correctly, or if you inadvertently import it multiple times, go to the FAQ page for instructions for deleting the UMC2009 entries.
ICALENDAR FOR ICAL (MAC), GOOGLE CALENDAR AND SIMILAR CALENDARS iCalendar
Installation Instructions:
IMPORTANT NOTE: Before importing UMC2009, back up your calendar data.
- Open your calendar application.
- Select Import (iCal) from the File menu.
- Select “Import an iCal file” in the Import window. Click Import.
- Browse to the downloaded UMC2009 file (in a folder or on your desktop).
- Click OK. The entries will be imported into your calendar.

Google Calendar (and similar online calendars)
- At the bottom of your calendar, click the Add dropdown. (For Windows Live Calendar, choose Subscribe from the calendar menu.)
- Select "Import Calendar" from the menu.
- Browse to the downloaded UMC2009 file (in a folder or on your desktop).
- Select the calendar you want the data to be added. You can create a separate calendar for the lectionary information, but keep in mind that many PDA and other devises will sync only with your main calendar.
- Click the Import button to import the UMC2009 calendar. The lectionary and other calendar data will be shown as non-busy all-day events at the top of each day. Information may be accessed and edited by clicking on the event.
Most calendars that can import iCalendar (.ics) files will function in similar ways. Look for an IMPORT function, which can usually be found under the FILE menu. Some online calendars use the term SUBSCRIBE, which allows you to subscribe to a dynamic calendar feed. Check your application’s documentation or Help file for more information about how to import iCal or vCal files.

PALM INSTRUCTIONS Installation Instructions:
IMPORTANT NOTE: Before importing UMC2009, back up your calendar data.
Windows
- Open Palm Desktop.
- From the File menu, select Import.
- In the “Files of type” box, select “VCal File (*.vcs).”
- In the "Look in" box, browse to where you downloaded the UMC2009 file and select it.
- Click OK to import the calendar data.
Once the data has been imported, move your cursor over an event to view the details. Click the notes tab to edit an event.
Macintosh
- Simply drag and drop the UMC2009.vcs files onto the Palm Date Book icon to open the application and import the calendar data.

MS WORKS Installation Instructions:
IMPORTANT NOTE: Before importing UMC2009, back up your calendar data.
- Open your MS Works Calendar.
- From the File menu, select Import.
- Click in the “List files of type” window and select “VCal Format (*.vcs).”
- Browse to the location where you downloaded the UMC2009 file.
- Click OK to import the calendar data.
