The
UMC2009 eCalendar comes in two formats,
iCal (.ics) and
vCal (.vcs), which are standard data formats that communicate calendaring information between applications such as personal information managers and group calendaring systems. vCalendar is the older of the formats and is currently supported by many products. iCalendar is a newer and more robust version of vCalendar that is capable of transferring more information.
We've provided information about which format is appropriate for a number of common applications. If you do not see your calendar application listed, check the documentation to see what formats it can import.
If your application is capable of using both iCalendar and vCalendar files, use the iCalendar format.
