Training: Connectional Giving

Share God's Gifts

“Turning Connectional Living into Connectional Giving”

The United Methodist Church is a connectional church. That means we can do more together than any one of us can do alone. This applies not just to the way we live, but the way we give. This free online course will help you explore ways your organization can support the shared ministry of the United Methodist Church. Read more about connectional giving.

What will I learn?

This course is divided into 4 parts. In the course, you’ll learn the answers to questions like:

  • Why do we give? What’s the biblical or theological basis?
  • How is our church connected to others?
  • What are the apportioned and designated funds of the church? What is the difference between the two?
  •  How can I make a difference?

You’ll learn how to be a “missional storyteller”—describing the difference the church makes in the world and how giving impacts that. You’ll also understand how to “make the ask” in your congregation.

What can I expect?

This course is interactive. You can move at your own pace. We use discussion forums, quizzes and other activities for a class that’s engaging and hands-on.
