Sermon Starter Series & Multimedia Bundle Focuses on Back-to-School Season
Nashville, Tenn.: "A Fresh Start," the latest sermon starter series and multimedia bundle from United Methodist Communications, encourages congregations to look at the back-to-school season as a chance for all persons to begin anew, and as a time of refocus for the church.
Now available as a free download, the four-week sermon starter series features a preaching focus, liturgical content, challenges to live the message in community, and ideas for using social media to engage persons online.
The accompanying multimedia bundle includes five videos (for worship or small groups), worship graphics and graphics to help churches "Rethink Church" and reach beyond their walls. It is available for purchase at the shop.umc.org website.
Not lectionary based, the series addresses the following topics:
Week One: Backpack Blessings: Taking God with you to face fear, uncertainty and dreams
Week Two: Fitting in, or Becoming Fit: Self-acceptance, peer pressure and self-worth in God
Week Three: When the Lead Breaks: Dealing with disappointment
Week Four: Each Day a New Beginning: Learning how to begin again
A free 30-minute webinar on how to effectively use this multimedia bundle will be held on Tuesday, July 12 at 10 a.m. CT. This demonstration will explain a variety of ways churches can share what is happening in their faith communities to attract visitors and energize congregations. To participate in the webinar, go to umc.adobeconnect.com/rethinkchurch.
