We Love Our Kids 2013
Where: New Albany, Indiana
When: September 14, 2013
A sincere thanks to everyone who supported We Love Our Kids event this year. Thank you for your prayers, donations and participation. It was a great day for families and kids, with over 250 volunteers serving side by side and close to 1,000 in attendance. We shared valuable resources to encourage healthy minds and bodies. God's love was shared with many.

Smart Lunch Smart Kid
Where: North Georgia- Multiple Locations
When: June 29, 2013
MANY THANKS to over 400 volunteers who helped us break the Guiness World Record of making the most sandwiches in one hour! In total, we were able to make 18,615 sandwiches in 5 different locations, helping to feed over 2,000 children. CRISIS

Impact Kentucky
Where: Louisville, Kentucky
When: August 25, 2012
Join fellow Kentuckians on Saturday, August 25th to bring hope to Impact Kentucky! Focusing on storm recovery, we will have projects in multiple areas for you to be able to volunteer and make a difference in the lives of those affected by the storms. Choose from projects like construction and repairs to food boxes and clothing giveaways - there's something for everyone!

 

Celebrate Segundo Barrio 2011
Where: El Paso, Texas
When: March 12, 2011
The Lydia Patterson Institute, in partnership with 6 local UM Churches, several Campus Ministries and the State of Texas, held a day of cultural celebration and service in what is known as the poorest urban zip code in America. Historical tours, food box distributions and a free health fair, along with a 5K Walk/Run, served over 2000 people in the community.

2015 Great Day of Service

The 2015 Great Day of Service event is happening on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at The Wildomar School. There will be logs of projects for all ages and skill levels.  Please come out and be a part of this fun-filled day and we provide service to our community

Serve Our Schools 2014
Where: McAllen, Texas
When: September 20, 2014
SOS!  Answer the call to Serve Our Schools on September 20.  This is the 3rd year of Serve Our Schools in and around McAllen, TX and we need your help to get our schools ready for the new school year!  Projects include landscaping, painting, cleaning, building bookcases, and stuffing backpacks.  There is something for everyone! 

 

Million Book Effort
Where: Columbia, South Carolina
When: June 3, 2014
Join the Million Book Effort and help us bring back the joy ofreading.  Take the Million Book Challenge and change a child's life.  By June 3rd, our goal is to collect 1 million books.  By donating 5 books each, we can ensure that all children have access to books.

ENVIRONMENT

Hands On Topeka 2014

May 3rd marks the 5th year for the Hands on Topeka event. This year we will be providing safer and more attractive environments in our community. From cleaning and landscaping at nursing homes and cemeteries, to painting classrooms and improving the overall appearance at schools, there is something for everyone.

2013 Great Day of Service

Thank you to all of our volunteers and sponsors who helped to make 2013 Great Day of Service a huge success. The community was blown away by our continued service as we provided a continued legacy to the city of three public parks that will service the growing city in a real and tangible way. The most common question we heard was "why are you guys doing this?" Our answer was something like: This is what Methodists do....

HEALTH

Hike2Heal 5K
Where: Nashville, TN
When: April 23, 2016
On Saturday, April 23rd, local United Methodists participated in the third annual Hike2Heal 5K to help raise funds to provide healthcare for the 512 students at Raise the Roof Academy in Uganda. This benefit allows healthcare to be provided in the form of immunizations, anti-malarial treatment, and preventative treatment for the students and staff of the school. Congratulations to everyone for competing and supporting a fantastic cause!

Change The World Day
Where: Manchester, NH
When: June 18, 2015
On Thursday, June 18th, walkers are gathering to help STOMP out malaria! Join this evening, fun one-mile walk where all proceeds will benefit Imagine No Malaria. Bring your friends and four-legged friends (if on a leash). Let's end malaria once and for all!

We will also be gathering shoe donations for Old Shoes-New Life. Mens, womens and childrens pairs of shoes in all sizes and in good condition are needed in Africa. (no high heels or flip flops)

Louisiana Skeeter Run
Where: Baton Rouge, Louisiana
When: October 11, 2014
On Saturday, October 11, 2014, SWAT Teams all over Louisiana will gather for a 5K or One Mile Run/Walk to help stomp out malaria as part of the 3rd Annual Louisiana Skeeter Run. Every 60 seconds malaria claims a life in Africa, so please join us as we put our best foot forward to continue the fight to save lives.

Proving you don’t have to be big to do mighty works, a small membership church was able to lead 300 volunteers to serve 1200 guests on one day with a hot meal, warm clothing, blankets, and Christmas toys for their children. Over 34 corporate sponsors and 4 branches of local law enforcement helped support this successful annual event.

Celebrate 20/20

Where: Chapel Hill, NC
Stop Hunger Now! We will be packing 20,000 meals in 2 hours. This is event is for all ages, so come and be a part of this great event and join our efforts to Stop Hunger Now!

Hands4Detroit
When: October 3, 2015
Where: Mt Elliott Neighborhood, Detroit MI
On Sunday, August 16th from 4:00-7:00 pm, volunteers will be sorting, packing and delivering bags of groceries at three local United Methodist Churches for residents in need. Please join us for a time of fun and relaxation. Together, we will build a Stronger Chillicothe!

Orlando Serves is a great way for you to volunteer and make a difference in your community. Please come out and be a part of this day of service. Our biggest areas of opportunity are with the Coalition for the Homeless and Straight Street.

Festival of Giving
Where: Troy, NC
When: May 14, 2016

We celebrated our tradition of giving back to the community with a full-day of great food, music and fun events on Saturday, May 14th. During the celebration, we also honored a few charitable organizations: ZOE, UMCOR, The Community Food Pantry in Bisco and Methodist Home for Children. Thanks to everyone who came out to help with this fun-filled event!

Taking It To The Streets
Where: Flint, Clarkston, Owosso MI
When: May 21, 2016

On Saturday May 21st, volunteers handed out nutritious food at five United Methodist Churches in Flint: Asbury, Atherton, Calvary, Charity and Court Street. We also planted community gardens and provided landscaping to help beautify our neighborhoods. Thank you to all who participated to make this event a success!

Monte Sano Day of Service
When: October 18, 2015
Where: Huntsville, AL

On Sunday, October 18 volunteers will gather at Monte Sano United Methodist Church to head out for a day of service in the community. There are lots of projects to choose from - something for everyone! Come help us build hope and make a difference in our community by participating in this fun day of service!

Taking It To The Streets
Where: Flint and Pontiac, MI
When: June 6, 2015

On Saturday, June 6th, volunteers from our communities came out to help feed the hungry, helped to remove blight, provide landscaping, planted gardens and much more. 1,500 families received boxes of food across five mission sites. These are tangible impacts that will be felt for months to come. 

Change The World Frisco
When: May 16-17, 2015
Where: Frisco, TX
Change the World Frisco 2015 impacted over 24,000 lives with 1,031 volunteers who helped to pack 23,500 Stop Hunger Now Meal. There many projects including 500 summer backpacks made and free lunches provided, sleeping mats made for the homeless, blood donations were given, 450 UMCOR Health Kits were packaged and 240 UMCOR School Kits were packaged, just to name a few. Thank you to all who came out to help make this event a huge sucess!
