Our mission is to help the church tell its story

To do this we:

Share Christ's message with the church and the world

Listen to the needs of the church and the world

Interpret the general program of the church to United Methodist members

Promote giving to World Service and other general funds of the church.

Create communications systems and print, electronic, and audiovisual resources.

Market communication resources to United Methodists, the wider Christian community and the general public.

We dedicate ourselves to meeting these objectives:

The public will be aware of and have a positive view of The United Methodist Church.

The United Methodist people will have a sense of common purpose and pride in what their church is doing around the world.

The general public will be enriched by an outreach ministry through the use of public media and education in media use.

The witness and mission of ethnic minority local churches will be strengthened through increased communication.

The United Methodist Church will have the electronic and audiovisual resources and communication systems it needs for mission and ministry.

The inclusive nature of the church will be represented in United Methodist Communications staffing, products, and services.

United Methodist Communications will be a place where people are recognized for their contributions, have continuing opportunities to grow, and are fairly compensated.

We strive to:

Be open to God's presence in all that we do as we help the church tell its story.

Shape our policies and products according to the beliefs, practices and spiritual heritage of The United Methodist Church.

Serve the church by responding to the needs of its people, by using its resources responsibly and by helping the church make a prophetic witness in the world.

Produce quality products and services.

Encourage creativity in doing our work.

Accept and encourage the uniqueness and worth of each person as a child of God.

Maintain an atmosphere of mutual respect and openness where we can say what we think and feel.

Follow the principle that men and women of all races, age groups and persons with handicapping conditions should be recruited and employed for all levels of responsibility within the agency.

Maintain an environment of participation, a sense of team spirit, mutual support and cooperation among staff at all locations.

Encourage and nurture the professional and personal growth of all employees through staff development, advancement and adequate compensation.
