UMC.org, The Official Website of The United Methodist Church, Celebrates First Birthday of Redesigned Site

NASHVILLE, Tenn.: Celebrating first birthdays frequently calls for recollections of highlights, milestones and important events that occurred throughout the previous 12 months. Such is the case as UMC.org, the official website of The United Methodist Church, marked the first birthday of the site's major renovation that launched February 12, 2014.

Since debuting its major overhaul one year ago, UMC.org has delivered news and information to help the world understand what it means to be United Methodist. Stories of personal spiritual journeys, ideas for spiritual resolutions and how to find more time for prayer have been popular, as was a story encouraging living a fuller life with a bucket list.

The site includes an updated version of the Spiritual Gifts assessment tool, along with several new video meditations about sacraments and other topics.

During Advent, the site offered a daily quiz, a feature so popular that a Lenten daily quiz is also planned.

UMC.org frequently highlights important dates, places and people in church history. A story about seven sites every United Methodist should see was a favorite. Part two of that series, with seven additional must-see places, is planned in 2015.

In recognition of the high quality and varied content during the past year, UMC.org earned an Award of Excellence from the United Methodist Association of Communicators in the Internet Communications category and First Place for Mobile Website, regional/general agency category.

Happy Birthday, UMC.org! May you have many more!
