Instagram basics: How to get followers

Script

Building an Instagram audience is the most difficult part of the process. It takes time and can be discouraging if you’re creating awesome content without dramatically increasing your followers. Don’t give up. Continue to post — at least once a day — and you’ll see that number build over time.

Get started with good ol’ fashioned word of mouth. Make sure your congregation knows you’re now on Instagram. Spread the news on your other social networks, website and in church bulletins and newsletters. Encourage members to tag the church account in photos they share from services or events. Follow people you know, organizations in your community, your annual conference and other churches.

And remember, although cliche, it really is about quality, not quantity. Sometimes people will blindly follow others, hoping to just get followed back. While that isn’t necessarily a bad thing, a small, engaged group of followers should be your goal.
