Ebola: In Praise of Prevention
After the 2014 video release of “Ebola: A Poem for the Living,” United Methodist Communications and Chocolate Moose Media joined with UNICEF Togo to collaborate on a second animation aimed at preventing another Ebola outbreak in West Africa.
Titled “Ebola: In Praise of Prevention,” the second animated video focused for use in West Africa and beyond, promotes prevention of the deadly disease which caused more than 11,000 deaths between 2014 and 2015.
The new video has been available since early 2016 as a free download in English and French. Plans are underway to make the video available in as many local languages as possible for dissemination through social media, television and radio broadcasting.
“Ebola: In Praise of Prevention” is an international co-production involving experts from multiple countries. Chocolate Moose Media’s Firdaus Kharas directed the production team of more than 20 people.
The United Methodist Church has been at the forefront of the communication’s response to the most recent outbreak. United Methodist Communications, the global communications agency of The United Methodist Church, in collaboration with other likeminded organizations, is using a variety of approaches to help educate people in Ebola-affected areas as well as areas likely to be affected by the Ebola threat, about prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the disease.
The video is being distributed under a Creative Commons license for free use, non-commercial, without derivatives and with attribution.
