Ebola: A Poem for the Living

Download the Ebola: A Poem for the Living video

United Methodist Communications, Chocolate Moose Media and iheed have collaborated to produce an animated video for use in West Africa that helps dispel myths about how Ebola is spread and promotes prevention of the disease. 

The video animation is available as a free download in 17 languages, including English and French, with West African voices and other West African languages. It has directly reached nearly 60,000 individuals in two northern districts of Sierra Leone in the three months following its release there.

United Methodist Communications provided partial funding for Chocolate Moose Media to create the video, which is an international co-production involving production10 countries: Canada, Guinea, India, Cote d’Ivoire, Liberia, Nigeria, South Africa, Sierra Leone Switzerland and the United States. Firdaus Kharas directed the production team of more than 20 people.

United Methodist Communications, the global communications agency of The United Methodist Church, is using a variety of approaches to help educate people in Ebola-affected areas about prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the disease as part of the United Methodist response to the outbreak.

Chocolate Moose Media is a multi-award winning media production company, specializing in media for social change. The executive producer of the video is iheed, a mobile-health education innovator.

The video is being distributed under a Creative Commons license for free use, non-commercial, without derivatives and with attribution.
