April Mercado: Without communication, there will be no food

By Laurens Glass*

April Mercado is Special Projects Manager for United Methodist Communications in the Philippines. She has been on the ground days after disasters such as Typhoon Haiyan, known as Super Typhoon Yolanda in the Philippines. A veteran of disaster relief, she has seen first-hand the necessity of reestablishing communications networks for assessing where and how to bring in much needed food, water, clothing, medical supplies and housing for survivors. This short video profile shares her thoughts on why the church -- and communications technology -- are there after tragedy.
