Born and raised in Monterrey, Nuevo León, México, the Reverend Virgilio Vázquez-Garza attended public schools and the Nuevo León State University where he studied civil engineering.
The Reverend Virgilio Vázquez-Garza
He attended seminaries in México City, Buenos Aires, Argentina and Kansas City. He graduated from Saint Paul School of Theology in 1976. He returned to México after graduation. Vázquez-Garza came back to the United States in 1978 and joined the Southwest Texas Conference in 1979. He was ordained an Elder in 1983. He has served churches along the southern border for 18 years. In 2002 he was appointed Superintendent of the San Antonio District. In 2010 was appointed Assistant to the Episcopal Office.
Virgilio and his wife Acacia grew up in the same Methodist Church. They have been married since 1969. They have two sons and three grandchildren.
